What an incredible week it has been! Last Wednesday was the all-in-one: birthday + find out if Baby is a boy/girl. On Tuesday was the concert of a lifetime watching U2 in SLC. Then a day later - one week after my birthday - a job offer from Nicholas & Co. We're planning on signing on the dotted line later this afternoon. What an amazing week we've been blessed with!

20 Week Ultrasound
Michael and I just got back from getting our 20 week ultrasound! As far as I could tell the baby looked healthy!!! We saw the arms and legs. She checked for spina bifida... no sign of it. The fluid in the brain looked good. We saw all four chambers of the heart and they all looked like they were functioning properly. She checked for holes in the abdomen and there didn't appear to be any. She said our baby weighs just under a pound!
We still don't know the gender. She made us close our eyes when she checked for it. Then she printed out a picture with the gender on it and folded it up and put it in my pocket. Michael is now taking it to the bakery to get his birthday cake made... with a middle layer of frosting either blue or pink! Before we cut the cake tonight we are all going to guess. It should be fun.
Michael was smiling ear to ear when we were looking at the baby. He is a proud dad already!
Happy birthday Michael!!

Birthday Plans
I was born on Wednesday, May 18, 1977. Here we are nearly 34 years later. On Wednesday I'll drive to Salt Lake City for my next round of "meet-and-greet" with a potential new employer. Around 2pm Oriah and I will get our next ultrasound for Baby A and, if all goes well, we'll know if we have a boy or girl on our hands. But we're going to mix it up a bit...the plan is to have the ultrasound tech write the gender on a slip of paper and place the paper in an envelope without disclosing the gender to us. I'll take the envelope into the store and have the Bakery make a cake with a colored layer of frosting, or something, inside the cake layers which will tell us the gender when we eat it later that night. Ideally we'll be able to share the surprise with Oriah's family when they come down our way for my birthday dinner. Should be fun!

Lights On The Horizon
Ladies and gentlemen, this may very well be my next employer in one-month's time! The interview went well this morning. While the situation currently stands at "promising" I am quick to admit that I've been here before. The all-too-promising lead which fizzles and then it's back to job search square one. Nevertheless, Oriah and I are hopeful! Keep your fingers crossed!

18 Weeks
Michael and I went for the 18 week appointment for the baby yesterday. It was short and sweet. The doctor said the heartbeat sounded very good. So as far as that being an indicator our baby is healthy. As we get further along I am starting to worry less and less about having complications. I'm sure they can come anytime, but I've been worrying all the time. We set our 20 week ultrasound for Michael's birthday. :) Don't worry, I've been planning that for a little bit so when I asked him he was shocked and very happy. I think it will be a great birthday present... maybe the baby will wave at him, or hold up a happy birthday sign. hehe
