BYU Print & Mail Meeting

Last week I got a flier through Campus Mail that advertised a Variable Data Printing Meeting. I didn't think much about it and recycled the flier. Well the next day I got a personalized email, to me and only me, that asked if I got the flier and hoped that I had signed up to go to the meeting. I thought to myself, "Wow, if they really took the time to send me an email they must really want me to go." So I signed up. Hahaha... Maybe I should have thought more about what Variable Data Printing might mean. Just like you can mail merge from Excel to Word... they have neat ways of personalizing printing, mailing.. and EMAILING! I got a pretty good laugh at how that type of marketing worked on me. Anyway, I went to the meeting and learned a lot. I plan to ask more about this printing to be more resourceful here at work.

Triathlon Training

Well it is time to get back in shape. The triathlon is in 13 weeks... YIKES! Last night Michael and I went for our first run of the year. We ran for just under 20 minutes. I about died. I am so out of shape. Michael, on the other hand, seemed to be doing just fine. Wish me luck, it's going to take a lot of hard work and discipline to get back into shape.

Morning Person

I was accused this morning of not being a morning person. Lame. I have always thought of myself as a morning person. Just because I don't wake up at 5 am doesn't mean that 7 or 7:20 in the morning is not early for a lot of the world! :) AND... after reading a definition of what a morning person is, I realize that I might not fit that. Can you be both? I can't stay up late, but don't love to be awake before the sun. Oh, man, I don't like being wrong, especially when it is about myself!

Family Dinner

**I just uploaded pictures from this so I'm posting it now, the actual date was March 1, 2010**

What a great idea Mackenzie had to have my family down to our new place for dinner. My mom, three sisters, brother Alex, sister-in-law Mackenzie, and niece Madeleine all came over last night to have dinner with Michael and me. I made some smashing lemon chicken. So yummy!

Michael and I have yet to purchase a table and chairs so it was a B.Y.O.C. evening. I kinda felt like we were camping in our living room. We had camping chairs set up in a circle and enjoyed our dinner. Above is Maddie with all the chairs, she even brought her own! Below is a short video of Maddie and her dance partner. This video doesn't capture it very long, but she was just dancing along with the flapping ears and singing donkey! So cute!

So What You're Saying Is....

Two Saturdays ago I asked Michael what he wanted for dinner the next day and he said I should just buy one of the frozen lasagnas and cook that. I told him that I could just make it from scratch, that way it could have less cheese so he might enjoy it even more. I've never made lasagna, but I knew it wouldn't be very hard. The plan was to put no cheese on top, but to still have the cheese in the layers, because you know, that is what makes it lasagna. So, after church I was talking to Michael about what I was going to do. He said he wanted me to make his with no cheese. Here is how our conversation went at that point:

Me: "So you want no cheese? Like none between the layers or anything?"
Michael: "Yes, no cheese."
Me: "So what you're saying is you want spaghetti?"

He didn't really
know how to respond to that. He asked me for lasagna, but really just wanted spaghetti. Well I made a pan of lasagna, one half the way it is supposed to be made, the other half with no cheese, or as most people in the world would call it... spaghetti. :)

I
love my husband.

The Princess and The Frog

Ever since I saw a preview for this movie I have wanted to see it. When I was home last weekend I found out that my mom bought it! I was so excited. So that very night I decided I needed to watch it... well, I fell asleep. For anyone who knows me you know that it is not an uncommon thing for me to fall asleep during a movie. :) Anyway, I still really wanted to see it so my very kind mom said I could borrow it. So I brought it home with me and attempt #2 was made last night... I FELL ASLEEP AGAIN! So lame! I still want to see it. I may have to try my luck during the day. I think I will have much more luck then.

Day 1

Here are some before and afters of the spare bedroom (below) and the office. I know it looks like the spare bedroom looks worse, but notice there are different boxes there now. :)

The Task

This is not my picture, but it is strikingly similar to what one of the spare bedrooms in our townhouse looks like. My goal this week while Michael is working nights is to tackle this room. There is a bed set up in the corner of the room, but currently the boxes are stacked like the ones in this picture and the bed is nowhere to be found! Wish me luck!

Weekend Updates

Updates from this weekend are as follows:

1. The lacrosse team did really well up in Salt Lake, winning all three of their games! We played Westminster Friday night, then on Saturday we played Pepperdine and the High School All-stars. It was a very fun weekend of lacrosse. In two weeks our team is headed to Fort Collins for our next games. I'm excited!

2. BYU men's basketball team lost in the second round of the tournament. I was really hoping they would make it past this second round because the next two games are in Salt Lake. That would have been so much fun to go cheer them on... talk about home court advantage.

Cougs v. Griffins

Tonight at 6pm our lacrosse team is taking on my sister's team, the Westminster Griffins. They are our in-state rivals (we are the only two women's lacrosse teams in Utah). :) Don't tell anyone, but under my BYU clothes I have a Westminster Griffins women's lacrosse shirt. What? I gotta support my family!

Pi Day

Yesterday was Pi Day so we celebrated with Cheesecake. Don't worry, it was good. Doesn't it look like I bejeweled that fork. :)

Lost

I've had a bit of downtime at work the last couple of days so I decided to see what all of this "Lost" hype is about since the last season is currently showing. Thank goodness for hulu.com! I started with Season 1 Episode 1. I've gotten through the first 15 episodes, so far so good.

Good luck Cougs! The men play today, ladies play tomorrow. Championships on Saturday!

Seven is for Sissies

So on Tuesdays Alex, Suzanne, and I have been going to the Cannon Center, an all you can eat cafeteria, here on campus for lunch. My parents bought Alex a meal plan to get him through this first year back after his mission. Well he wasn't going everyday as he had planned so this semester the three of us have been taking advantage of his extra money that needed to be used by April. We used it pretty quickly... sadly, today was our last day.
Because it was our last day we decided that we would go all out. We were inspired by my sister's recent accomplishments found here and by a kid we saw taking his tray one time who had EIGHT plates on it. We decided Alex should try and beat his record. He was successful. He ate eight plates of food, three desserts, had two glasses of milk, and ate some Cheetos. Way to make us proud brother! I think we may eventually miss going to the Cannon Center, but for now, it will be good to try something different.

Biggest Loser

When I used to have TV there was only one show that I really tried to follow and watch each week. I love The Biggest Loser! Since Michael and I have been married we have not had TV and have not been watching it. Luckily I have been able to find some downtime at work and have kept up with this season. I'm excited to be able to watch it "real time" now. You better believe we will be watching it tonight!

Shamrock Shakes!

I would argue that this is one of the greatest things about St. Patrick's Day. Friday after work Michael and I stopped at McDonald's to get one. YUMMY. It was his first one... and he liked it!

Panini

I may have found my very favorite kitchen appliance! I am so excited about my panini maker. You can make any sandwich you want a warm sandwich. It would make GREAT grilled cheese sandwiches (I have not made those yet because Michael does not like cheese), it makes great egg sandwiches for breakfast, and yummy lunch or dinner sandwiches. It is so easy, no flipping required, just make your sandwich, put it on the panini maker, close the lid, wait a couple minutes, and BAM! you have a tasty warm sandwich. Guess what's for dinner at our house tonight? YAY!!!

TV

I know, we did it a month too late, but we finally have cable! I wish we could have watched the Olympics, but we got it just in time for March Madness and baseball season! I'm so excited!

My New Best Friend

This has become my new best friend. The tissues here at work are kinda like sandpaper so I brought a box of tissues from home. They will go with me everywhere until my nose stops running.

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Really?

My nose hurts like hers does! And I'm sneezing like she is. Is it really allergy season already? It may not be, and I may just be getting a cold, but I have been sneezing and feel congested like I do when I get allergies. LAME!!!
