Jonathan gets so close to crawling... The next ones show how he can back himself anywhere and just play with what he finds.

Raining Ash
Yesterday I saw through the blinds that it looked a little odd outside. When I stepped outside this is what I saw:
| Looking South |
| Looking North |
I took Jonathan on a quick walk to get the mail then got my camera to snap some pictures. While on our walk I noticed it was raining ash. I guess the fires are closer to us than I thought. Yikes!

Great Grandma and Grandpa Harding
Yesterday we went to visit my dad's parents. Jonathan was soaking up every word they said and Celeste caught it on camera:
In other news Jonathan is getting really close to crawling. We're headed to AZ this weekend to visit Michael's mom and step-dad. Patricia promises we will leave her house with a crawling baby. Oh, boy. Let the chasing begin! :)

Updates
Last week Jonathan and I decided to surprise Michael and weed our back patio. Michael planned on working on it last Saturday and boy was he surprised when he went out and it was ready to be cleaned up and the weed killer sprayed. :)
Here are a couple pictures I took of our progress (I forgot to take one until the second day of weeding so you only get to see the before picture of half of the back):
And in other news Jonathan is getting really good at rolling over as soon as his diaper comes off:
And I finished the last project for his bedroom. Sorry the pictures
isn't great, I thought I could sneak in and take a picture because he
just went down for a nap... turns out he wasn't quite asleep. I'll take
more later. :)

One of Those Days
Yesterday was one of those days...
You can't really tell in the picture, but there are about 5 spit up stains on that onesie.
We have been trying to help Jonathan sleep through the night. Tuesday night he was up for at least an hour, maybe closer to two, off and on crying in the middle of the night. Because of that he was fussy all. day. long. By lunchtime I was scrambling to figure out how to handle him. I finally just put him in his crib and let him fuss because I was going crazy. He was never really screaming and crying, it was just fussing and always wanting to be held, but then that also wasn't good enough. I didn't know what to do! He was in his pajamas all day.
We put Jonathan to bed nice and early and he slept GREAT! Today he is already 10,000 time better. :) Here's to hoping for a much better day than yesterday!

Oops
Last night I gave Jonathan a tiny piece of avocado. It got stuck on the back of his tongue. He gagged a couple times. He threw up twice. Poor guy.

Finally...
After more than 8 months I put some color on Jonathan's walls. :) This past weekend my mom and I shopped for and made a valance (ok my mom did most of the work... and I do realize the valance should have it's own rod, I just don't have one yet), I got some blackout curtains to put up in hopes that he will not think that going to bed at 7 PM is just a nap, and while I was shopping for those I found some cute mirrors. Back before Jonathan was here my mom and I were shopping and saw some cute wood animals. We picked some out and then I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them. I finally found the perfect spot for them! Here is what it looks like so far:
Now I just need to finish the project I started a long time ago with the fun paper Mackenzie bought for me in Australia. Hopefully this week I'll get that done and up on the wall.

Tummy Sleeper
This is the first time I have seen Jonathan sleeping on his stomach. Recently I have noticed that he is not in the same spot I lay him down in after a nap so I decided I should go in and check on him while he is sleeping. This is what I saw today:

Unexpected Gift
Michael's Aunt Beth and Uncle Jeff sent Jonathan a new outfit. It is really cute and I'm really excited for him to wear the whole thing, but today we tried out the hat. Here he is:
Ladies man. :)
Reading Time
Michael here
I was sitting on the floor with Jonathan this morning as he played with toys when the thought came to me that I really ought to read to him. The thought was more along the lines of:
"Don't let your son grow up dumb." I guess I had listened to Jonathan grunt and bang his toys together for too long a period of time. Quite caveman(baby)-like.
We read about fishes, ladybugs and colors.

Wrestling
This afternoon Jonathan decided to wrestle with Mr. Bear. Here is the picture play-by-play:
He got him off the chair, but then moved to the floor to finish him off:
:)
Another First
I just went in to get Jonathan from his morning nap and he was on his stomach propping his head up to watch for me to come in the room. I always lay him down on his back for his naps and last week Michael noticed that he was sleeping on his side (I lay him down and he immediately rolls to his side.. it is so cute!). This time he apparently rolled all the way over. What a little mover. I love getting him from naps when he has had enough sleep. He is so smiley and happy to see me.
We love our little man!

8 Months!
Jonathan is growing up! He finally learned to roll from his back to his front... both exciting and not so exciting for us. Now we have to be very careful where we choose to lay him. This morning I was changing his diaper. I had the diaper undone and was going to grab a wipe... the little stinker rolled over, right out of his diaper, and mooned me! :) Thank goodness it wasn't a stinky diaper!
Every day is a new adventure with him. He loves standing and jumping and sticking out his tongue.
