January Happenings

Jonathan has been really fun lately, full of lots of smiles and laughs! The following are pictures I took off my camera and my mom's. (I still don't have the camera that has the video of him laughing... that has been found, but I do not have it in my possession yet.)

Jonathan loves bath time... and he loves being wrapped up in his towel when he gets out:

When Jonathan's cousin Madeleine was here she took very good care of him. She loved to hold him and give him kisses. She gave him kisses almost every time she or he woke up from a nap. We loved having them here!

One time I decided to put him in the highchair to see how he fit. He fit perfectly and didn't seem to mind it. So Madeleine went and got her blanket and puppy dog for him. As you can see he loved it:

And here she is holding him:

Grandpa loves to put food in Jonathan's hand and tries to encourage him to put it in his mouth... maybe that is so he can truthfully say he didn't feed Jonathan. Luckily Jonathan, up to this point, has just held on to the food for a second then dropped it. Every time Grandpa puts food in his hand though, I have to make sure I clean off all the crumbs!

Grandpa thought he had it this time:

I have decided that Jonathan is officially a thumb sucker. We still try and keep it out of his mouth, but he often will pull his pacifier out and quickly put his thumb in. This time he got his thumb through the pacifier handle thing and was sucking it:

Here's another of him in the highchair, this time playing with some toys. He is getting better and holding objects:

This is a picture of his cute outfit. His hat goes great with it and it was perfect that Jerusha and I took him outside that day so we had to put the hat on! I got a few comments about how cute he is (the hat and outfit were not bought together, nor are they even from the same store!):

I took this while we were playing one day:

I got him some teethers for him to chew on. He hasn't quite learned to hold them and chew on them.... so of course I put them in his mouth. They make him drool a TON! :)

And here he is just yesterday. He's just chillin' on the couch by himself:

And last, but not least, Jonathan with his daddy!

That's all for now. Friday he will be 4 months old so you better believe I'll be having a photo shoot at our house. :)

Lost Camera

Last week I got a video of Jonathan laughing and some other fun pictures... but I can't find my camera! I'll post them as soon as I find it.

Breakthrough!

I just laid Jonathan down for a nap... there were no tears or cries! Let's see if we can make this a habit! :)

Naps

Jonathan was such a great napper for a while, but things have changed. Really I think he is just starting to need less sleep. He used to sleep for an hour and be awake for an hour all day until it was time for bed then he'd sleep longer. Well when I try and lay him down after an hour he will have none of it. (This little boy has quite the temper.) So after talking to my amazing sister-in-law Tina, who has six kids of her own, I decided to try and watch less of the clock and more of Jonathan and his "tired" cues. Also my mom informed me that he probably is not needing as much sleep as he used to, and much to my dismay I believe she is correct. He is now awake for 1.5-2 hours at a time. I have had a hard time finding ways to entertain him for that long (I now see the great wisdom in Mackenzie having at least one outing each day), but he is happy and has gone down for naps a little easier (mind you today is only day 3 of the longer awake time without me trying to force an early nap). I am also trying to let him cry a little more and not go to him right away after I put him down so he can better learn to fall asleep on his own. It turns out he really only cries for a couple of minutes until he falls asleep, and if he cries longer than that then I know I put him down too early and we try again later.

Jonathan has started "talking" a lot more. He smiles and laughs lots too! I think his new found voice is what keeps him awake sometimes. I have had to go in and put his pacifier in his mouth so he will quiet down for a nap. He is really such a joy to have. We love him a lot. I'm hoping I can figure out his nap "schedule" and find ways to keep him entertained while he is awake. He'll be 4 months old next week! Time really does fly.

New Trick!

Jonathan is growing up so fast. Sometimes I just want him to be able to walk and talk and eat real food, but I have already started missing his younger days. We love him!

Here is a trick he did for the first time Saturday, January 21st. I wish I started the video just a couple seconds earlier, but you get the best part...

Christmas... a little late

We spent Christmas at my mom and dad's house with my sisters, Alex, and Spencer and his family. We had so much fun!

Here is Jonathan coming downstairs with Michael to see what Santa brought him:

This picture is really not very good... sorry about the lighting... but it's Jonathan in his Christmas pajamas:

And here is where grandpa put him (showing off his Christmas outfit):

And here is the back of it:

The following were Jonathan's favorite presents:

We had a great Christmas. It was nice that it was on Sunday so we could go to church and hear a program reminding us of the meaning of Christmas. We are truly grateful for Christ and all He did for us. We hope you all had a great holiday season!

3 Months Old!

Jonathan is 3 months old today. He is such a great blessing in our life! Recently Jonathan has started laughing... it is the best noise in the world! We love him!

He has also started doing a lot of this:

*A special thanks to Mackenzie for helping me take some good pictures... I took the first one... she took the other two! Boy do I have a lot to learn!*
